Birbal and Kichadi -Akbar Birbal Cold River Story in English:-Once upon a time, in a cold season, Akbar and Birbal were sitting on the palace terrace.
Akbar complained about the cold weather, and Birbal replied, “Yes, Majesty, if we go to the river now, we won’t survive.”
Suddenly, Akbar had an idea. He announced a competition, offering a reward of 1000 gold coins to anyone who could survive the whole night in the palace river. A poor farmer who lived nearby heard about the competition and wanted to participate, but he couldn’t afford warm clothes. Akbar allowed him to compete but set a watchman to keep an eye on him.
The farmer got into the river water, which was freezing, and he was in a lot of pain. But he managed to spend the night in the cold water and met the king the next day.
Akbar asked him how he had managed to win the competition.
The farmer replied, “I thought about my children’s poor situation deeply and watched the only light available to see in the palace torch for the full night.”
However, Akbar accused him of cheating and told him he wouldn’t receive the reward. The farmer was disappointed and went to Birbal to explain his situation.
The next day, Birbal invited Akbar for dinner. Akbar was so hungry and angry for the delay in dinner that he walked to the kitchen side. He was shocked to see Birbal cooking without fire.
Akbar demanded to know why he was cooking without fire. Birbal replied, “Why not? The palace torch is seen from here. So, the food gets hot and cooks well now.”
Akbar realized his mistake and apologized to the farmer and Birbal. He then gave the full winning amount to the farmer and promised to treat him fairly in the future.
From that day on, Akbar learned to think twice before making a decision, and he never doubted Birbal’s wisdom again. The poor farmer was grateful for the help he received, and he went home to his children with a bag full of gold coins.
